About The Role

This position is within the Design department, reporting into the Head of Design. You will be required to develop technically viable products in line with brand strategy and under the guidance of the Head of Design. The role will centre around the development of products for Curvy Kate Lingerie, Curvy Kate Swimwear, Scantilly and Flirtelle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Live and uphold Curvy Kate’s Core Values
  • Design and Develop product for Curvy Kate Lingerie, Swimwear, Scantilly according to the Design brief and the fit critical path.
  • Colourist for Curvy Kate Continuity, Fashion, Swimwear & Scantilly
  • Supplier manual maintenance & distribution

  2. Design and Develop product for Curvy Kate Lingerie, Swimwear, Scantilly according to the Design brief and the fit critical path.
    • Research & report upon trends in fabrics, products, fit and price within the Lingerie & Swimwear market.
    • Translate trends into new design concepts for future seasons, maintaining brand handwriting.
    • Understand the Design Brief issued by Head of Sales to inform design concept development.
    • Source new fabrics & componentry, which are fit for purpose and production viable, via factories and Interfiliere shows within the target cost parameters of brands.
    • Create and maintain concept CADs in readiness for Design & Customer Meetings.
    • Present design concepts internally and on occasion to customers.
    • Create and maintain garment specifications for assigned product.
    • Design & develop fashion product for assigned brands in accordance with market trends and the issued Design brief.
    • Draft and adjust concept patterns for initial concept samples using Lectra Modaris software.
    • Create and maintain measurement charts in excel format for all assigned product.
    • Apply and develop grade rules for assigned product in accordance with the Curvy Kate grading standards.
    • Demonstrate understanding of good fitting product and develop awareness of fitting challenges and solutions.
    • Ensure established standard of fit, componentry and overall product are checked and maintained throughout product development.
    • Develop further awareness of own brand and competitor product fit and performance.
    • Conduct regular fit comparisons of new product within the market.
    • Maintain clear lines of communication with overseas factories.
  3. Colourist for Curvy Kate Continuity, Fashion, Swimwear & Scantilly
    • Maintain and where possible improve the colour standards of all brands.
    • Review & comment on colour submissions in accordance to the Production Critical Path.
    • Issue comments either directly to the factory or via the Design Assistant.
    • Raise any concerns regarding colour submissions to the Head of Design.
    • Maintain a filing system of all colour work you are responsible for.
  4. Supplier manual maintenance & distribution
    • Maintain the Design Department content of the Curvy Kate Supplier Manual.
    • Be the contact point within the design department to record required updates.
    • Issue updated editions of the Supplier Manual to all active factories when applicable.

About You

You will have the following experience/competencies:


  • Competent, proactive and self-motivated.
  • BA (Hons) degree in Contour Fashion, specialising in Lingerie & Swimwear.
  • Basic skills using Lectra software, for pattern amendments & grading.
  • Proficient in Adobe software for creation of technical and design drawings.
  • Keen interest in fuller bust & fuller figure Lingerie & Swimwear product.
  • Ability to work well under pressure within a busy design team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Flexible and reliable with a positive attitude.
  • Ability/willingness to travel if necessary.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills.
